I was born in Texas but now live in another state. However, this book took me back to the colorful, exciting history of Texas and I fell in love with the courageous main character, Lourana Crawford Finney and you will come to know her affectionately as Lou. in most books the heroes are men and while there are some heroic men in this dashing book, Lou stands tall and leads her family from Kentucky to Texas, grappling with hardships all the way.In this day and age, we need heroes. Real. Authentic. Strong. This book has it all and I wonder if there will be a second book about Lou or her descendants. Wish there was a t-shirt with one of Lou's quotes on it -- I'd order a dozen!
Stand Against the Wind is one of my favorite books and I recommend it to lovers of history everywhere -- especially Texas history buffs.

Stand Against the Wind eBook Carol Harp Norman Reviews
I couldn't put this book down!! I loved the account of my ancestors lives. I am a decendant of Valentine Crawford b. 1775.
I have ordered a hard copy of this book. Can't wait for it's arrival. It is a very very good read if you like to hear about the start of our
country and the times during the Civil War. It has actual facts of the life of the Crawford & Finney families.
You can't go wrong reading this book.
